Kartezmo ("we," "our," or "the App") is a life journey mapping application that helps you document, visualize, and reflect on your life experiences. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide:

• Life experiences, goals, reflections, and personal profile details you enter into the App
• Photos you attach to experiences
• Journal entries and responses to reflective prompts

Information Collected Automatically:

• Device location data (only when you grant permission, used to suggest local skill development opportunities)
• Basic device information necessary for app functionality

3. How Your Data Is Stored

Your personal data — including experiences, goals, reflections, and profile information — is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not maintain a central database of your personal content.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide App features:

• Displaying and organizing your life experiences
• Generating AI-powered recommendations, insights, and LinkedIn profile suggestions (via OpenAI)
• Suggesting local skill development opportunities based on your location
• Enabling data export and backup features

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• OpenAI: When you request AI-powered features (recommendations, LinkedIn suggestions, skill development ideas), relevant experience and goal data is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to that data: https://openai.com/privacy
• Expo Services: Used for notifications, image handling, and other device features. Expo's privacy policy applies: https://expo.dev/privacy

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with third-party services as described above, and only to provide the features you use.

7. Location Data

Location data is collected only when you explicitly grant permission. It is used solely to recommend nearby skill development opportunities and is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties beyond what is needed to generate recommendations.

8. Notifications

Push notifications are optional and only enabled if you choose to turn them on. You can disable them at any time through the App's Profile screen or your device settings.

9. Data Export and Deletion

• You can export all your data as a JSON file at any time from the Profile screen.
• Since data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling the App will remove all stored data.
• You can also use the Backup/Restore feature to manage your data.

10. Children's Privacy

Kartezmo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

11. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Your personal data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except when using AI-powered features.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above.
